Galesburg Railroad Days

My friend Gene Crossett and I journeyed to the Galesburg, Illinois area last week and we had a wonderful time together. We did a lot of train watching and picture taking. I think my total picture count was somewhere more than 600 in about 72 hours. If you have an interest in railroads, the Galesburg area is where one should journey at least once. A rather large BNSF hump yard is located in Galesburg and the nearby confluence of the former Sante Fe and former Burlington Northern lines makes for a great deal of train activity. At one of our favorite locations, we were tallying a train about every nine minutes at one point. By all means though, please observe all local regulations, railroad property rights and use good sense to avoid injury to yourself and others.
